CommitMe vs Streaks for habit streaks
Twelve days. Then you were ill for four, and starting again from zero was not worth it.
Streaks is an excellent piece of iOS software. Widgets, Health integration, complications on the watch, a one-time price and no account. On craft it beats CommitMe outright, no contest.
It is also entirely private, and that is the design decision that matters here. The streak is a number only you see. Nothing stops you breaking it but you, and that was already not working. When a run does break, most trackers hand you a zero and a bad feeling.
CommitMe answers both differently. You earn a pause day for every four completions and bank up to thirty. An absence spends them, so the streak survives the week you were ill. The crew is the other half. People you invited can see whether a shared habit is logged today.
| CommitMe | Streaks | |
|---|---|---|
| Does anyone else see whether you logged it | Yes. A habit you share is visible to your crew, and they see whether today is logged. | No. Streaks is private. |
| The group, and how you get one | A private crew you invite by link, five by default. Or a topic community you join, and build a crew out of the people there. | None. |
| A target the group works at together | A weekly target the crew hits together, set by the owner. Everyone who contributed gets XP when it lands. | No. |
| What happens when you miss | The streak survives if you have pause days. You earn one per four completions and can bank up to 30. | The streak resets. Some slack is configurable per task. |
| Money at stake | None. No money, no forfeit. | None. |
| Turns a vague goal into daily actions | Yes. A written goal comes back as milestones plus one habit for this week. | No. |
| Chases you when you have not done it | Yes, twice over. Reminders at your local time and a warning in the evening when a streak is at risk, plus any of your crew can nudge you in one tap. | Notifications per task. |
| Shows you your own patterns | A heatmap of which days you actually log, and a breakdown of which part of the day you complete in, which appears once you have about ten completions. | Charts per task, alongside Apple Health data. |
| Points, levels or badges | XP with a level multiplier, levels, and 24 badges across six categories and five rarities, awarded automatically. No characters, no gear, no economy. | The streak itself. Nothing else. |
| Helps you review the week | A weekly reflection that arrives with the week already counted: which habits you hit against what you said, the completion rate, the streak and where each goal stands. | Charts and history to read yourself. Nothing prompts a review. |
| Platform | Web and installable to the home screen. No App Store or Play Store listing. | iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS. Apple devices only. |
| Price | Free. One crew on the free tier. No paid tier is live. | USD 5.99, a one-time purchase on the App Store. |
| What Streaks is better at | — | Being a native iOS app. Widgets, Apple Health, Apple Watch, Shortcuts, offline, no account, and a one-time price instead of a subscription. |

you want a beautifully made private tracker with nobody watching. Streaks does that better than CommitMe ever will.
