Terms of Service

1. Scope

These terms apply to the CommitMe app and website at commitme.io, operated by Alexander Schauff, Mühlenstr. 223a, 41236 Mönchengladbach, Germany ("CommitMe", "we"), and to everyone who uses them ("you").

2. What CommitMe is

CommitMe helps you turn a goal into milestones and daily habits, track whether you did them, and share progress with a small group of people you invite. It includes a coach that generates plans, suggestions and weekly reflections. We do not promise that the service is available without interruption, and we may change or discontinue features.

3. Account

An account is required. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials to yourself and for everything done through your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use CommitMe.

4. Price

CommitMe is currently free, with a monthly allowance of coach conversations. We intend to introduce a paid plan with higher limits. No payment obligation arises for you at any point unless you explicitly choose a paid plan and confirm it, and we will not convert a free account into a paid one by default.

5. What the coach produces, and what it is not

The coach is generated by a large language model. Its output can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for you, and you should treat it as a suggestion rather than an instruction. It is not medical, psychological, nutritional, legal or financial advice. If a goal touches your health, including exercise, diet, sleep, medication or mental health, talk to a qualified professional and let their judgement override anything the app says. Do not use CommitMe to manage a medical condition.

6. Your content

Your goals, habits, completions and posts remain yours. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, and show it to the crew members you have chosen to share a habit with. We do not use your content to train models, and we do not sell it.

7. Crews and other people

A crew is a small group you invite or are invited to. What you share with a crew is visible to its members, and we cannot control what they do with it, so share accordingly. Treat other members decently. We may remove content or suspend an account for harassment, spam, or content that is illegal.

8. Acceptable use

• Do not use the coach to generate illegal content, or content that harms someone.
• Do not automate, scrape or load-test the service, and do not work around usage limits or security measures.
• Do not impersonate someone else or sign up with an email address that is not yours.

9. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for damage arising from injury to life, body or health. In the case of a breach of an essential contractual duty (cardinal duty) we are also liable for simple negligence, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected. Beyond that, liability is excluded. In particular we are not liable for outcomes you did or did not reach while using CommitMe.

10. Ending it

You can stop using CommitMe at any time. To have your account and its data deleted, email hello@commitme.io; see the privacy policy for what that removes. We may suspend or terminate an account that seriously breaches these terms, with reasonable notice unless the breach makes notice unreasonable.

11. Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms as the product or the law changes. We will announce material changes with reasonable notice; for existing users they take effect unless you object within four weeks of being notified.

12. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another EU member state, the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected (Art. 6 Rome I Regulation). We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

13. Severability

If a provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the rest remain in force. The invalid provision is replaced by the legally permissible arrangement that comes closest to its original intent.
