CommitMe vs Apple Reminders for habits
It is already on your phone, it costs nothing, and you have been ignoring the same notification since January.
Apple Reminders is free, native, offline and works with Siri. CommitMe beats none of that. It does not fix a habit because a reminder you can swipe away is a private transaction between you and your notification centre. Nobody is on the other end of it.
CommitMe adds one thing Reminders cannot. Other people can see whether today is logged: a crew you chose, on habits you chose to share, with a streak that survives a rough week if you banked pause days for it.
If a notification is enough for you, you do not need this. Most people who have been ignoring the same one since January already know it is not.
| CommitMe | Apple Reminders | |
|---|---|---|
| Does anyone else see whether you logged it | Yes. A habit you share is visible to your crew, and they see whether today is logged. | No, unless you share the list, and a shared list shows the task rather than whether you did it. |
| The group, and how you get one | A private crew you invite by link, five by default. Or a topic community you join, and build a crew out of the people there. | A shared list, if the other people are also on Apple devices. |
| A target the group works at together | A weekly target the crew hits together, set by the owner. Everyone who contributed gets XP when it lands. | No. A shared list has no goal attached to it. |
| What happens when you miss | The streak survives if you have pause days. You earn one per four completions and can bank up to 30. | The reminder repeats. Nothing is recorded. |
| Money at stake | None. No money, no forfeit. | None. |
| Turns a vague goal into daily actions | Yes. A written goal comes back as milestones plus one habit for this week. | No. |
| Chases you when you have not done it | Yes, twice over. Reminders at your local time and a warning in the evening when a streak is at risk, plus any of your crew can nudge you in one tap. | Notifications, including by location. No person is involved. |
| Shows you your own patterns | A heatmap of which days you actually log, and a breakdown of which part of the day you complete in, which appears once you have about ten completions. | No. |
| Points, levels or badges | XP with a level multiplier, levels, and 24 badges across six categories and five rarities, awarded automatically. No characters, no gear, no economy. | None. |
| Helps you review the week | A weekly reflection that arrives with the week already counted: which habits you hit against what you said, the completion rate, the streak and where each goal stands. | No. |
| Platform | Web and installable to the home screen. No App Store or Play Store listing. | iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS. Apple devices only. |
| Price | Free. One crew on the free tier. No paid tier is live. | Free, bundled with the operating system. |
| What Apple Reminders is better at | — | Being free, native, offline, and already there. Siri, widgets, location-based reminders, and no account to create. |
